JePPIX design houses translate your applications into PICs. They offer functional PIC modelling with manufacturing tolerances using manufacturing grade process design kits (PDKs). The design houses offer design for manufacture (DfM) and design for testability (DfT).

Design capabilities of VLC Photonics

VLC Photonics offers expert consultancy, component and circuit design and full layout services for the InP platforms of SMART Photonics and Fraunhofer HHI, and for the TriPleX platform of LioniX. This can include design support, custom design services, layout service, and consultancy for concept feasibility, specifications review, and techno-economic analysis.

BRIGHT Photonics offers expert circuit design and full layout services for SMART Photonics and Fraunhofer HHI production. This can include:

  • Specifications review
  • Concept to module study
  • Bill of materials estimate
  • Technology benchmarking
  • Layout and compliance
  • Design software and support
  • Building block development such as low linewidth and tuneable lasers, spectrometers, multiplexers and high-speed modulators.

Typical design cycles range from 1 to 4 months for product level design projects, depending on statement of work and requirements of the PIC.

 

Intellectual Property

Building blocks from foundry PDKs are owned by the foundry. Building block intellectual property are property of the design library owner, so if a customer provides its own design library, IP is theirs. Layout or circuit IP is owned by the customer.

The transition from MPW to Pilot offer includes a step change in quality for:
