VPIcomponentMaker™ Photonic Circuits is developed with the goal to enable convenient, accurate and fast EDA-style design flow for elaborating modern and next generation photonic integrated circuits (PICs). The cutting edge simulation framework of VPIcomponentMaker Photonic Circuits is complemented by extensive libraries of standard passive photonic and optoelectronic devices, electrical and digital logic elements, and hundreds of instrumentation utilities and signal processing tools.
VPImodeDesigner™ is a versatile simulation framework for the analysis and optimization of integrated photonic waveguides and optical fibers. This powerful design tool offers a set of full-vectorial finite-difference mode solvers with support of widely customizable non-uniform meshing and perfectly matched layer absorbing boundaries, allowing the accurate and efficient calculation of guided and leaky modes and their properties. The Software supports modeling of plasmonic, high- index-contrast and diffused (graded-index) straight and bent waveguides and fibers, made of dispersive and lossy, isotropic and anisotropic materials (including non-diagonal and gyrotropic anisotropy).
VPIphotonics offers consulting services for creating customized library extensions to VPIcomponentMaker Photonic Circuits providing circuit-level support of a Process Design Kit (PDK) for various integrated photonics technologies (Indium Phosphide, Silicon, Silicon Nitride, Polymer). These pluggable toolkits support a cost-effective generic foundry approach for application-specific photonic integrated circuits (ASPICs) design. Within this approach, the user or the system designer can choose photonic devices from a fixed list of so-called building blocks (BBs) supported by the individual foundry.
